The Dells Mill
The Dells Mill is the oldest operating mill in Wisconsin. It was established in 1864 and was water-powered. The mill operated throughout the civil war and it became a social event for farmers and their families to join together to mill their wheat. The mill looks picturesque, situated right next to a cascading waterfall. The red color of the mill looks especially bright alongside the green foliage of the Wisconsin trees and the deep blue hue of the water. The history and the beauty of the mill makes it a popular attraction for school groups, professional photographers, and other visitors.
Augusta is also known for its Independence Day festival called “Bean and Bacon Days”. Bush Brothers and Company, who owns a canning plant in Augusta, sponsors the festival. The festival features a parade and a street fair. The city of Augusta has a proud history and looks forward to the future while keeping its small town history.
