Basic Woodworking Tools
Get Started on Your Project With the Right Woodworking Tools
If you’d like to take on a project within your home, you need to have the right tools on hand. You can save a lot of money if you do things yourself and if you’re at all handy, there are plenty of projects you can consider. If one of the projects you’ve been thinking about involves woodworking, check your tool stash to see if you have the basics you need. If not, head to Lampert Lumber to get the rest of the items you should have for the job. Here are some of the basics:
A Circular Saw
You can do rough dimensioning on the wood with the circular saw or you can use a good table saw.
Hand Saw
You will also want to have a hand saw along with a router and several router bits so you can do cross-cuts. You will need straight edges and you can cut boards down to their final width with this saw.
Jigsaw
If you want to cut any cures or do any detailed or finishing work, this is how you do it.
Tape Measure/Square
This is an essential tool in any home with any project, practically. Having a square along with a tape measure and a pencil and knife nearby can help you mark and measure anything necessary.
Power Drill and Bits
Once the cutting is complete, you’ll need to be able to put things together.
Sander and File
You will have to smooth the surface of the final work efficiently or it will get old very fast. Files and sanders can help you get the job done effectively as well.
Chisels and Wooden Mallets
You may have to pound some pieces together to make sure they fit tightly and don’t show any gaps.
Workbench
It’s nice to have a workbench for this project and many others yet to come. Rather than bend over the ground and try to sand things, you can have them at the right level to prevent back pain and help you get things done more comfortably.
Hammer and Screwdriver
This is something every household should have, even several of spread throughout the house. It will come in handy during this particular project.
